Rent a mountain bike and design your own California Redwoods bike tour with help from Redwood Rides. Reserve online today!
Our standard mountain bike rental sets you up at the “covered bridge” 0.5 miles from the eastern entrance to Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park, part of Redwood National and State Parks, off Howland Hill Road/ Douglas Park Drive. We will meet you at our primary meeting location, the Hiouchi Hamlet chevron and market (2100 US Highway 199, Crescent City, CA 95531, GPS shows address as Crescent City but it’s actually 15 minutes from there in Hiouchi). From there, you will follow us in your vehicle to the parking location where we will give you the mountain bikes. Once you are finished biking, you can lock the bikes (with provided lock) next to where you’ve parked, send us a text message that you’re finished and be on your way! Larger vehicles like large RVs may be directed to a different parking location.
From this parking location, you can ride out-and-back on Howland Hill Road, a dirt and gravel road that serves as the primary route through the park with slow-moving (average 20 mph) car traffic, enjoying fantastic ancient redwoods along the way and stopping to visit redwood hiking trails along the way. An average out-and-back ride from the covered bridge is 10 to 12 miles.
Longer rides for stronger riders are possible by also riding out-and-back on Little Bald Hills Trail or Rellim Ridge Trail (more difficult to reach then Little Bald Hills trailhead).
